The rooms are named after horses and most... read more of the artwork is horse themed. This isn't done in a tacky way though and it felt like a very high quality hotel! We ate in the restaurant in the evening which was lovely and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. Breakfast was fairly simple but there was a good choice and staff were constantly topping everything up. The staff were fantastic - really helpful and friendly.
Our only issue was that the room was a bit too hot! We turned the heating off but with three of us in there we needed the window to sleep (which was fine because it was really quiet) but very unexpected for Iceland in October! We didn't both mentioning this to reception as we were only there the one night although I'm sure if we had, they would have helped in any way they could.

But I also want to make a special shoutout to Paulina, she was the one that checked us in. She gave us a super nice welcome and many useful tips for our stay. Definitely worth staying here!

There was space for a... read more mini-refrigerator under the desk but there was no refrigerator in my room (not sure if this is the case throughout the hotel). My rate included a nice breakfast buffet and use of a hot tub (although I didn’t take advantage of the hot tub). I also ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, which I enjoyed, but service could have been a little better. A very good value – one of the least expensive places I stayed during my 12 nights in Iceland.

- Free parking or shuttle service at a cost available
- Hotel is located in a tidy and interesting city, making it easy to get to other destinations
- Horse riding tours are offered and highly recommended
- Bonus supermarket nearby
- Had an amazing stay and will definitely be coming back

The hotel is exceedingly clean and the decor is soothing. Our room was amply spacious with a great bath room. Again, compared to 8 other hotel stays, the Eldhestar had the nicest breakfast buffet (included in the room rate). The hot tub is another plus. We also recommend dining at the hotel for dinner. Excellent service, great food.
